About the Designer

The mission of Singular Design Interiors is to create a space that reflects your unique needs, vision and style, in an affordable manner. . . truly your singular design.

Singular Design Interiors is owned and operated by Mary Yeager.

Mary is a graduate of Towson State College (B.S. Biology) and Baltimore County Community College (A.A. Paralegal Studies). She has taught high school science and has worked in the Baltimore County criminal justice system. While working for Baltimore County, she pursued her interest in art. Mary created custom-painted furniture pieces that were sold in shops in Fells Point, Mount Washington, and Hampden. She also painted custom wall murals and faux wall finishes.

Mary then began working part-time for an established Harford County interior decorator and gradually assumed responsibility for complete interior design projects. In 2006 she formed Singular Design Interiors to provide customized residential interior décor and design services.

Mary completed the curriculum from Sheffield School of Interior Design. She continues to update her professional knowledge through college-level art and interior design courses, trade seminars and events, and numerous design periodicals.

Mary works primarily in the Baltimore metropolitan area, but has served clients in other areas of Maryland and Southern Pennsylvania.

"I may be biased, but Mary and I were finishing each other's sentences during our initial consult. She is guiding me through the process of updating my living room, it is a work in progress."

"I was very impressed by the designer Mary Yeager. Her suggestions were right on target; she sizes up the situation quickly and accurately. I enjoyed working with her very much, as she tries hard to understand each clients individual purpose, personality, likes and dislikes."

- Pikesville,MD

"Great job. She made it fun. Reasonably priced."

- Havre de Grace, MD

"She was very thorough and listened carefully to my needs. Using her guidance, I have completed the redecorating, and I am smiling and happy. My favorite thing is the beautiful green living room. I would never have thought of green as the wall color-- when when she suggested it, though, I picked my favorite shade from the ones she displayed. The end result is elegant, beautiful and perfect."

In early 2009, while acting as a Personal Representative of an Estate, I needed to sell a home in Roland Park which had a series of unfinished repairs and exhibited a number of "flaws" which could easily have discouraged potential purchasers. At the time, credit markets were largely frozen and the market for real property sales was stagnant. I asked Ms. Mary Yeager, of Singular Design Interiors, to advise me regarding a wide variety of repair, renovation, decorating and design challenges.

She exercised prudence regarding the purchases she made on our behalf and made good use of existing furnishings. When our efforts were completed, the house showed extremely well.

Under extremely negative market conditions, we received a proposed Contract of Sale I was able to accept within approximately one month of first listing the property for sale. The contract price exceeded several early estimates of value by tens of thousands of dollars.

I am pleased to recommend the services of Singular Designs Interiors.

I contacted Mary for help with our living room. For years I tried to pull it together and maximize the space. I wanted a comfortable, cozy ,"curl up with a book" look.

The only firm ideas I had were for bookcases on one wall and a particular fabric, I saw in a photo, for a chair. Working from those two points Mary completely redesigned the room. We replaced the sofa with two loveseats and added two small area rugs. All of our other furnishings were used in the new design.

I now have a wall of bookcases, several seating areas, and valances Mary designed to match the chair fabric. Changes Mary suggested for new matting and framing of pictures dramatically improved their appearance and their contribution to the room and accent pieces really made a difference.

My husband and I are extremely pleased with the new look. It is attractive, inviting and modern looking-everything I wanted from the outset.

My family room had been setting my teeth on edge for 15 years. It had no purpose and was a hodgepodge of stuff. Now when I come home and sit in my “new" family room, I have a sense of calm and warmth. I never would have imagined the concept Mary came up with. The room is more than I could have hoped for. Mary is down to earth and practical and encouraged our participation in the planning of the room. She understood exactly what I wanted and needed.

These are some key words that I think describe Mary... Good sense of style and color, ability to mix styles, resourcefulness, vision, talent, and patience. Mary understood what I liked and wanted (even though I wasn’t sure myself). She did a great job of working with furniture I loved, adding furnishings and accessories within my budget, to produce wonderful rooms. Family and friends can’t believe the transformation.

We have enjoyed working with Mary on several decorating projects over the last five years. She has helped us decorate two homes! When we put our previous home in Bel Air on the market, it sold in less than a week, at a time when the market was not doing particularly well. I credit a lot of the quick sell to Mary and the amazing decorating she did on that house. She continues to help us decorate our new home in Fulton; assisting us with everything from paint colors, windows treatments, accessories, and furniture placement. Mary has a gift for understanding her clients’ style and tastes, and coming up with decorating ideas that truly reflect her clients’ personalities. She is a pleasure to work with and we look forward to her assistance on many future projects!

We couldn’t agree on anything… I wanted floral, he wanted stripes. I wanted jewel tones, he wanted neutrals. Consequently nothing quite came together in our home. We spent money on numerous paint colors, accessories and furnishings that just did not work. We also wasted a lot of time. Mary solved the problems, showed us how and where to compromise on our ideas. She pulled our disparate ideas into a beautiful and cohesive whole. We accomplished more in one year with Mary’s skill than we did on our own in 6 years.
